Permanent Technical & Engineering position in Greater Manchester
Pay: £25,000/year
About the Vacancy
We are currently recruiting for two Estimator/Cad technicians to join this market specialist within the Construction Industry.
Due to market growth a couple of technicians are required to join the team. One position is for an experienced Individual with experience of design and estimating in the construction industry, who will ideally have experience of utilising a construction industry specific design packages; ie, Mitek, Alpine, Gangnail, Wolf etc
The second position is a trainee level role where you will have a degree or HNC/HND in a related subject and will receive full training on the company’s design package.
You will need to be commercially aware, results orientated with a strong design background. The role will involve the design and drawing of company products including all aspects of product design from conceptual design to manufacture, including the production of relevant calculations and supporting technical information. It is essential that the integrity of design is ensured, and that performance specifications are met.
Typical duties will include;
• Providing cost estimates against visuals or sketches for budgetary purposes and full production quotations against fully detailed CAD drawings.
Price up all rates from basic principles broken down on a labour, plant, materials and subcontract basis
• Price up all preliminary items for each tender in advance of finalisation with the Directors
• Advising on best practices, equipment requirements and other aspects unique to the Client’s approved suppliers
• To notify and control any changes to specification where necessary
• Producing engineering calculations to support the designs.
• Compilation and development of specifications for all components, and for finished products.
• Communications with component suppliers regarding technical queries.
• Establishing milestones, monitoring and ensuring deadlines are achieved.
• Communicating status to relevant parties.
• Conducting design reviews during project lifetime.
